- You have been prescribed Divalproex for prevention and treatment of seizures and improvement of mood.It is also helpful for preventing frequent migraines.Take it with food and preferably at the same time everyday.It can take 3 to 4 weeks before you feel the full effects. Keep taking it as prescribed.Divalproex may cause dizziness or sleepiness.
